Climate
Climate is rather temperate, but Russian people in Tver differentiate only two seasons instead of four, namely: summer and winter. These two seasons are the most conspicuous, as spring and autumn pass quickly and unexpectedly. Nobody knows when winter will change autumn and how long summer will last. Guide Russia is glad to assure you, there are no extreme temperatures in winter and summer. Average winter temperature is about – 14, but it rarely lasts more than two or three days. The weather is so unpredictable, that temperatures may drop from – 15 to – 5 and then to 0 degrees with slush and rain. Now, due to the climate changes, winters became milder in Tver, but if you planned to make a tour in winter, you still need some warm clothes. Spring temperatures range from – 2 at night to + 15 during the day or even higher, it depends on some definite month. However, despite this warm temperature, it’s still quite windy, that’s why, Guide Russia recommends you to have a warm jacket, to wear it zipped out during the day and zipped up at night. Summer is rather comfortable, maybe a little humid, but full of sunshine and fresh winds. Summer weather is unpredictable as well, so periodical heat waves may vary with thunderstorms, accompanied by flashes of lightning and claps of thunder. Fortunately, it’s a rare thing and average temperature is around +25 - +35; as the result the entire population pours out in the streets, in order to enjoy this cheerful weather and bathe in the sunlight. In the evenings the city is crowded with young people, wearing light and loose clothes. Somewhere in the mid of September Indian summer comes for a weak or two. Next, autumn arrives and brings with itself light chilly winds and drizzling weather with spitting rains. It’s reasonable to have an umbrella on you; otherwise you can easily get wet to the skin.
Restaurants and cafes
The city of Tver abounds in various bars, cafes and restaurants, especially its center, where a great number of restaurants and cafes, providing luxurious menus and good food quality, are concentrated. However, among this numerous cafes and bars you may come across some fast food restaurants, which are deprived of healthy menus, as their food leaves much to be desired. Guide Russia interpreters will recommend you some nice and good places, which will meet all your requirements. Tips are not necessary, but if you want to express your evaluation of the service provided, they will perceive amount of 5-10% with gratitude.
Shopping
Shops are usually opened from 8-9am. till 8-10pm. Weekends some of them are closed by 3-5pm., but for the twenty-four-hour stores.
